Using a text filter to extract specific data from a table

added: 1/30/2010 Version: 2.30.0

You may have a web site listing a poduct catalogue and you want to extract data for each listed product, but each product have different attributes listed in the same table.

You may define a content element that extracts the first attribute in the table, but the first attribute for one product may be color, but for another product it may be size. To make sure you select a sepcific attribute (size for example), you can use a text filter. To use a text filter you right click on the text element and select filter from the context menu.

If you are extrating the attrbute size the context menu will have the item Must contain text "size". Visual Web Ripper will now look for the text "size" no matter where it is located in the table and extract the corresponding value.
